The Seven Waves of Rough S.E.A.S. Navigation Quiz™ provides categories of phases that employees may experience as they are navigating workplace trauma and abuse. The model is not indicative of every emotion, as that would be impossible. However, the themes were created broadly with the goal of aiding individuals in locating themselves. If a person can locate where they are, they are more likely to engage the resources and skills necessary to pivot to a healthier space that supports them in becoming unstuck physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
The model was intentionally created with the waves being connected but not dependent on one another. It is an individual experience with collective themes. While there is often a dominant wave, individuals may experience multiple waves simultaneously, independently, sequentially, or nonconsecutively. The waves are influenced by where the person was emotionally prior to the situation, the actual situation, and the roles and behaviors of the persons involved. This quiz describes the potential waves that an individual may be experiencing. It is a snapshot in time. It is important to keep in mind that Rough S.E.A.S. - Soul-Eroding Assimilation-Forcing Systems™ can be extremely dangerous regardless of the waves an individual is navigating. Each wave should be taken seriously. Just as waves in an ocean, the intensity of the wave can have and contribute to life-threatening outcomes, chronic illness, suicidal ideations and attempts, and premature death. This should create a crisis-level response. Individuals experiencing Rough S.E.A.S. should seek emotional support immediately. Organizations contributing to Rough S.E.A.S. need to seek external and internal support and develop actionable strategies to improve the workplace culture immediately.
